The role comprises of providing first-line, face-to-face support to staff and post-graduate students on a wide range of IT services and also on our Response Team where you will be visiting users, offices and teaching rooms to help resolve technical issues. The role also involves second-line support based in our IT workshop, where you will be processing laptops, PCs and other devices, supporting AV equipment in our teaching rooms and setting up video conferencing sessions.
Alongside your general support duties, it is expected that your role will be a good mix of support and small projects; you will be covering a wide range of activities and meeting a wide range of people. You will take the lead in many technical projects and challenges, for example, imaging and deployment of computers across the entire School and refurbishing computer classrooms. You will often be required to manage your own workload, producing documentation and contributing articles to the IT knowledge base.
This would suit an individual who is self-motivated, committed to delivering a high standard of user support in a flexible and positive manner, and willing to share their knowledge and learn new skills.
The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
